Manager vs. Leader

Not all managers are leaders and likewise, not all leaders are in management in an organization.

Managers are tasked with getting things done. A set of goals, with a set of tasks that need to be accomplished. They have a set of "direct reports" for which they recommend pay raises, approve time off, schedule and evaluate employee performance.

A leader is very often not in management. They are the "go to" people in any organization. People respect these people and trust them. A leader has many characteristics, honesty, charisma, integrity and are trustworthy. They drive the culture of the organization. They impact the organization in a positive way, by their work ethic, knowledge and kindness to others.

A manager is a title easily handed out in most organizations. It is a job title. When management is comprised of leaders and non-management is comprised of leaders, the company is likely very successful.
